What happens during installation?

Our team handles everything from start to finish. We assess your electrical supply and parking setup, arrange any required permissions with the DNO and safely install your EV charger.

Once fitted, we test it thoroughly, provide certification and guide you on using your new charger.

In most cases, there’s no need for a full power shutdown in your home. Our certified electricians work safely using industry-standard procedures, often isolating just the circuit where the charger is being installed. If any temporary supply interruption is required, we’ll let you know in advance so you can plan around it.

Is my home suitable for an EV Charger?

In most cases, yes. Installing an EV charger at your home is straightforward and suitable for the majority of properties. If you have off-street parking, such as a driveway or garage, you’re typically a good candidate for a dedicated home charging point. Even if your setup is a little more complex, such as limited space, shared access or you live in a flat we can usually provide a solution.

At Hill Electrical Ltd, we assess your existing electrical supply, fuse board, and parking setup to ensure everything is suitable and safe. We also handle any required notifications to your local Distribution Network Operator (DNO), so you don’t need to deal with the paperwork.

Our team will guide you through the options and recommend the best charger for your needs, helping you charge your vehicle safely, efficiently, and conveniently at home.

WHICH EV CHARGER IS FOR ME?

Choosing the Right Charger Speed for Your Home

The kW (kilowatt) rating of a charger determines how quickly it can charge your EV:

3.6 kW chargers – Ideal for overnight charging at home. Most EVs will be fully charged by the next morning, making them suitable for smaller batteries or light daily driving.

7 kW chargers – A common choice for faster home charging. Perfect for larger batteries or if you need a quicker top-up during the day.

11 kW or 22 kW chargers – Less common for homes but available if you have a high-capacity electrical supply. These deliver very fast charging, often used for multiple EVs or if you drive long distances regularly.

Tip: Your home’s electrical capacity may limit the kW you can install. Our team can advise on the best option to balance speed, cost, and your electrical setup.
